VOR

Living so close to the elements in Iceland, where the winters are long and dark, and summers are short and bright, the title of the exhibition “Vor” – meaning spring in Icelandic – has a certain connotation strongly related to new beginnings, the season of hope and new possibilities. Such is also the spirit of this exhibition, bringing together a group of artists that all share the experience of being Icelandic but all having at a certain point in time chosen to expand their horizon and explore opportunities elsewhere. In addition, the term “vor” also refers to the pronoun us in traditional Icelandic, reinforcing the artists’ interconnectedness and revealing an unexpected source of identity, just as the works that have been selected for this exhibition.
