Guðný Rósa Ingimarsdóttir

“opus – oups” is a mid-career retrospective displaying the work of artist Guðný Rósa Ingimarsdóttir over more than two decades. It is a part of an exhibition series organized by the Reykjavík Art Museum with the aim to examine and present the career of major living artists. Each exhibition is accompanied by a comprehensive publication.
In her work, Ingimarsdóttir seeks inspiration in her surroundings and experiences. She has worked with diverse media, such as audio and sculpture, but her works on paper work have always been prominent. Her practice is characterized by precision and is often hand carved, drawn in delicate pencil, stitched with thread, or even assembled from different materials. She uses miscellaneous paper such as carbon paper, tracing paper, wallpaper and common printing paper, with earnest and intimate results.

The exhibition is curated by Ólöf Kristín Sigurðardóttir, director of the Reykjavík Art Museum.
