GIGANTISME – ART & INDUSTRY is a new collective initiative in the Hauts-de-France region of Dunkirk: the creation of a new three-year art and design project in Europe.

From May 4th, an exhibition of large-scale installations, created for the occasion, in situ works, sculptures, paintings, films and performances will embody the encounters between artists, engineers, designers and architects. It will take place at different exhibition venues and urban and port sites. An original itinerary that rethinks a history of European modernity from 1947 to the present day on the scale of the Dunkirk landscape; between living heritage and contemporary creation.

GIGANTISM – ART & INDUSTRY is jointly run by the FRAC Grand Large – Hauts-de-France and the LAAC – Musée de France; with the association L’Art contemporain and the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie Littoral Hauts-de-France.

As part of this project, artist Athina Ioannou is going to display 10 different flag designs on 170 boat masts in the “Bassin de la Marine” harbor.
