Founded in Switzerland in 2008, the Alt.+1000 festival takes place every two years. The aim is to use photography in mid-mountain regions to raise public awareness of the landscape. Far from being a tourist postcard, Alt.+1000 is a place for observing and reflecting on the landscape through photographic exhibitions, artistic residencies and institutional collaborations.
Camminare insieme – walking together: the theme of the 8th edition of the Alt+1000 photography festival is an invitation to experience the landscape in a different way – through movement, encounters, and observation. The festival will take place from September 13 to October 5, 2025, in La Vue-des-Alpes, an iconic site renowned for its open panoramas and historical link with mobility.
This new edition highlights the diversity of perspectives with 18 Swiss and international artists and more than 140 works. The artists, from different generations and linguistic backgrounds, using a variety of photographic approaches, offer a collective reflection on the landscape. How do we perceive it? How do we traverse it, inhabit it? The landscape becomes a trajectory, a path to be traveled, a space of movement that mobilizes the body and awakens the gaze.
