The international exhibition “José Pedro Croft: Reflexos, Enclaves, Desvios” brings together around 170 works by the renowned Portuguese artist and offers a deep immersion into his visual poetics. Featuring an expressive collection of engravings, drawings, sculptures, and installations, the selection of works reveals the artist’s ongoing investigation of themes such as body, scale, space, and architecture, which explore the boundaries between the flat and the three-dimensional.
One of the highlights of the exhibition is the installation created especially for the rotunda space. Using mirrors, Croft constructs an optical illusion that transforms the skylight of the CCBB Rio de Janeiro into a 40-meter-deep well. The work functions as a visual puzzle, reflecting architectural parts and creating a negative space with the inverted image of the building.
The exhibition is divided into sets of images, which were chosen based on the architecture. An invitation to the public to rethink the relationship between art, space, and perception.
