Group show with Michèle Magema

With Invisible Portraits, Michèle Magema has created a minimal work that combines performance, photography, and embodied history. Composed of five black-and-white photographs, the series features the artist herself, wearing plaster casts of the faces of five Congolese men and women born between 1950 and 1960. These faces become “white masks”: fragments of individual stories that Magema chooses to embody, literally, on her own skin.
