For the second exhibition of 2024 at LOSANGE, visual artists Lucile Bertrand and Natalia Blanch have come up with the project « I dwell in possibility ». They present works that interact with each other and with the intimate space of the house, and which will be presented without artifice and in natural light.. The works will be displayed in every room of the house, with particular attention paid to the relationship between the works and the functionality of the space.
Natalia Blanch’s work deals with the life force and its transformation, in every act of creation as in motherhood. For example, the video Keep going, about her condition as a woman, mother and artist, was created for the exhibition. But so too are her appropriations of existing works, which she transforms through a variety of media, notably Fra Angelico’s Annunciations, which she revisits, displaces and deconstructs to offer new readings.
Through a wide variety of media, Lucile Bertrand questions notions of boundaries, both physical and imaginary, inviting movement, relationships and exchange. She also presents the first scene of her new film, Les inoubliables, which echoes these questionings – in it, performers in several languages convey the words of poetesses from different continents, who come together through their texts on the constraints imposed on women, which they seek to overcome with spirit and complicity.
Visits will be guided by than Natalia Blanch and Lucile Bertrand themselves, who will share with the public their ways of thinking and working as contemporary artists within their exhibition.
PRESS :
LOSANGE is an artistic project conceived by the visual artist Evelyne de Behr, LOSANGE is the fruit of research and questioning stemming from her own experience as a woman artist. Located in the heart of a private Art Nouveau house in Ixelles, the DNA of LOSANGE is to pay particular attention to the visibility of women artists and to offer a unique space designed as a laboratory for exhibiting and disseminating contemporary art. LOSANGE takes the domestic space – a potential temple of the emotions – as its starting point, opening it up to societal issues and debates.
This pioneering and poetic project offers exhibitions dedicated to contemporary artists and emerging or established curators. It opens the door to contemporary art in a close relationship between the works, the public and the artists.
