Du devant au dedans

This exhibition brings together works by Tessy Bauer, Lucile Bertrand, Pol Lahaye, Emmanuel Laugier, Maryse Otjacques, Rosalie Stevens, Laura Viale & Nicolas Wolkenar.
Set up by Brigitte Hoornaert and Gabrielle Weissen, this proposal starts from the front, from contemplation as an exhibition visitor, and invites us to go inside , to become aware of another dimension induced by the creations, by revisiting them through our bodies in movement.

Echoing the “Art & Health” theme of the Société libre d’Émulation, this exhibition Du devant au dedans will run from November 21 to December 21, 2024.

The project stems from a questioning of how to experience a visual work other than through the sense of sight. The curators seek to open up questions of accessibility through the interweaving of visual, sound and bodily practices, as well as language.

How do works of art appeal to our perceptions?

How do we observe things, and how does this influence us?

Gabrielle Weissen and Brigitte Hoornaert are interested in how we pay attention, how the body is involved in creative work and how it is received. Through their selection of works, they seek to stimulate bodily memory.

This exhibition will be accompanied by a small edition dedicated to opening up the works to an experience with which our bodies can resonate. This booklet of scores invites us to engage in spaces of movement, proposing different ways of relating to the texts, images and sculptures.

Proposals to follow, transform and take with you, according to your desires and the resonances of the moment.
